THE COLD SEASON IS A CHALLENGE FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS

The cold season is a time to test our immune system and our general well-being. It is particularly challenging for young children and their parents, as their immune systems are still developing. When the body weakens, illnesses, constant anxiety and mood swings attack.

Symptoms and complications

Not every cold or viral respiratory infection is influenza. The signs and symptoms of influenza may also vary from person to person, but these are the most common:

  • Fever;
  • Headache;
  • Muscle and joint pain, "breaking" bones;
  • Cough and sore throat;
  • Runny or stuffy nose;
  • General tiredness and weakness;
  • Vomiting and diarrhoea may be a sign of flu in children.

The disease can be dangerous because of the complications of influenza, such as pneumonia, eye inflammation, bronchitis, sinusitis, myocarditis, encephalitis, meningitis, exacerbation of chronic illnesses and others.

One of the devices that is indispensable in the home to monitor accurately and in real time the oxygen level in the blood, the changes in blood pressure and pulse, to react in time and to prevent deterioration of health is the pulse oximeter. Pulse oximeters are available in different models, either on the finger or on the wrist.

If your child has a fever, don't be alarmed. A rise in body temperature is a natural process that helps the body to fight various ailments, to produce interferon and to increase the number of leucocytes to actively fight bacteria. And you can find a wide selection of thermometers in our shop. One of them is particularly handy, small and at the same time non-contact.

Other measures to protect yourself against flu should not be forgotten, such as hand hygiene, not touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, ventilating rooms, coughing and sneezing hygiene, staying at home when you have flu symptoms, and avoiding contact with sick people. Of course, it is always important to take care of and strengthen your health, even if you do not have seasonal illnesses such as flu or colds.
