In the Spring of 2020, the world was plunged into chaos by the rapid spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. In the space of a couple of weeks, the world changed. 
Amidst this chaos, they wanted to keep their focus and act decisively to find a technological solution that could ease the burden on ordinary people. As the scale of the COVID-19 crisis started to become clear, the Bacteo team - a group of 3 friends who are serial inventors and entrepreneurs - started looking for a tech solution to help. They wanted to offer better hygiene, improved safety, and peace of mind to both businesses and households. So they started looking into which technologies could be used to help. They realised that there is a technology that can help - ultraviolet light (UVC). UVC can kill or render inactive harmful pathogens including coronaviruses. It's been used in the healthcare sector for this purpose for over 40 years.
So they set about designing a lamp that is powerful, effective, and effortless to use. They established a new company, Bacteo, and brought together a team of experienced engineers and developers to find a better way to harness the pathogen-killing potential of UVC.
